HARALD J. LEVENTHAL  President
Expertise in analysis of all aspects of the client's financial and administrative management including budgeting, financial management, operations, financial reporting, investment analysis and compliance. Hal has extensive experience in both the nonprofit and private sector as CFO, entrepreneur and consultant in technology, banking and travel. Prior to co-founding LKM in 1998, he was the Chief Financial Officer of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, Marin, the Peninsula and Sonoma where his responsibilities included working with beneficiary agencies on strategic and financial issues and the management of the investment portfolio. Hal has been a speaker for the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Foundation Center on Ethical Issues in Fiscal Governance, and Nonprofit Financial Oversight and Governance. He earned an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of California at Berkeley.

BENITA R. KLINE  Vice President
Expertise in domestic and international grant making, grant management, program development, evaluation, planning, board development, and foundation governance. Benita has over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit community as a grantmaker, community planner and development director. Prior to co-founding LKM in 1998, she was the Director of Planning and Organizational Services at the Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay. She currently serves as Treasurer and Director of Art & Remembrance; and is a member of the National Network of Consultants to Grantmakers. Benita is a frequent speaker and workshop presenter on such topics as High Impact Family Philanthropy, Becoming an Effective Grantmaker, and Finding Focus in Philanthropy. She holds an M.S. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from San Francisco State University.

SELINA D. WILLIAMS  Manager of Client Accounting
Selina serves as controller and provides hands-on financial management, payroll and reporting for many of our clients. Her prior professional experience includes: Controller, San Francisco Opera and Director of Finance, Calyx & Corolla; Staff Accountant, Bregante and Co. CPA’s and the Stitzel Companies, and Special Projects Manager, Landels Ripley and Diamond LLP. A lifelong learner, she attended Otis Parsons School of Design, studied accounting at UC Berkeley, performance and theater at ACT, and has done coursework in law, interior design and anthropology. Selina is also a volunteer community organizer and environmental traveling companion.

JANE M. HU, C.P.A.  Manager of Client Accounting
Jane provides expertise in tax, compliance and accounting for nonprofits. Her prior professional experience includes serving as Staff Accountant at Donna Cohen, CPA, specialists in nonprofit accounting and tax, and at Ernst & Young LLP in Vancouver, Canada. She has been a consultant in business development and a personal banking officer at Scotiabank. Jane holds a B.A. in Accounting and B.A. in History from the University of British Columbia and is licensed by the California Board of Accountancy.

DEBORAH GARCIA  Manager of Investment Accounting
Deborah provides expertise in foundation investment accounting and endowment reporting. She has over 20 years of experience in accounting and financial management for non-profit organizations, endowments and foundations. Her prior professional experience includes sixteen years as Chief Financial Officer of the Jewish Community Federation and Foundation of the Greater East Bay. Deborah has a M.A. in Spanish Literature from the University of California at Berkeley.

JESSICA N. STELTZER  Accounting/Administrative Assistant
Jessica is a native of Tampa, FL and moved to the Bay Area in 2008. She has over 15 years of experience as a bookkeeper and office manager in both the commercial and nonprofit sectors. Prior to joining LKM, Jessica served as the Bookkeeper at Berkeley Food and Housing Project and Finance Assistant at WMNF Community Radio in Tampa. She has a B.A. in French from the University of South Florida. She's been a disk jockey, ESOL teacher and greenhouse assistant. She is especially interested in media justice, and community and other noncommercial radio.

JEFFREY LEIGHTON, C.P.A.  Associate
Expertise in foundation structure and operations, tax, financial reporting, asset management and foundation effectiveness. Jeff has over 25 years of experience serving as staff and consultant to many of the largest foundations in the country. Jeff served as CFO of the David and Lucile Packard Foundation from 1988 to 1997. Consulting clients include the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the James Irvine Foundation, the Ford Family Foundation, Marin Community Foundation, Y. & H. Soda Foundation, Woodard Family Foundation, California Healthcare Foundation, Sierra Health Foundation, Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati, the Council on Foundations and the National Center for Family Philanthropy. Frequent speaker and author on foundation management, investment management and nonprofit management issues at the Council on Foundations Annual Conference and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Not for Profit Industry Conference. He has a C.P.A.—State of California; and M.B.A. with specialization in Finance and Accounting, University of California at Berkeley.

LESTER "TERRY" MILLER  Associate
Expertise in financial management and accounting, tax and non-profit compliance. Terry is an expert in non-profit compliance, the new IRS 990, and providing our clients with accessible, informative financial information. Terry's prior professional experience includes eight years as Senior Paralegal & Client Finance Administrator with the law firm of Silk, Adler & Colvin (now Adler & Colvin), a premier San Francisco law firm specializing in providing counsel to foundations and nonprofit organizations. He is Director & Treasurer of the Foresight Institute, Audit Committee member of the Applied Research Center, and member of the Planning Committee of AICPA National Nonprofit Industry Conference. Terry is a frequent trainer in nonprofit management, tax and accounting and a speaker at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, CompassPoint Nonprofit Services, and the Foundation Center. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Portland.
